Poppy Seeds in India

The opium poppy has grayish-green leaves and flowers which range from white to various shades of red. It is grown in Indo-China, India, Turkey, Iran that is native of Asia Minor and indigenous to Mediterranean coastal region. Although a close relative of the opium poppy, Californian poppy is safe and non-addictive, and makes a gentle and effective sedative for children. Best taken in the evening for short-term sleep disturbance, Californian poppy improves sleep quality and can be helpful for nightmares and bed wetting. It combines well with passion flower. Californian poppy soothes overactivity and also benefits conditions involving pain or anxiety such as headache, migraine, and irritability.

  1. Rich Protein Source: The seeds are a good source of protein and oil, and have long been used in food preparations like curries, breads, sweets and confectionery in India. This illegal and destructive substance is obtained from the milky sap and the um-shaped seed capsules or poppy heads.
  2.
