Fuller’s Earth Clay – Multani Mitti

Multani Mitti is also known as Fuller’s Earth Clay. In India multani mitti commonly used as to clean marble. It removes the surface of dust, dirt, impurities and stains and replenishes the shine of the marble and for the same reason it has been used numerous times to clean the Taj Mahal. Also it used in many homemade face packs as well as other commercial beauty products. Multani mitti is great gift by nature for beautiful skin and hair. As it is a cleanser, can used as natural substitute for soap.

Multani Mitti face pack

Multanni mitti is a clay which is used mostly to absorb the excess oil present in our face. It is a wonderful cleanser as it contains magnesium chloride. Multani mitti has the best antiseptic properties that helps to fight all skin problems with ease. When mixed with rose water works best for oily skin by not only removing the excess oil but also by giving a cooling effect. To make cleansing mask for oily skin take 4 parts of Fuller’s earth, 1 part rose water, 1 part lemon juice, 2 part honey, 15% – 10% propolis extract. Mix together to make nice homemade face pack. Should not be mixed until immediately prior to use, since they do not contain preservatives and will spoil rapidly. If pollution or high sun UV rays are the reason for skin spots and tanned skin then try this easy face pack with fuller’s earth clay and yogurt. Mix together multani mitti and curd. Keep it for 1/2 hour. Mix mint leaves powder in it and apply on spots. Wash with warm water after 30 minutes. Repeat for several days to see the changes. To reduce wrinkles apply same pack mixed with an egg. To add more glow for skin add carrot juice or turmeric in the pack.

Multani mitti for pimples / acne

Mix together 2 spooful multani mitti, 1 small spoon of neem powder, powder made with 5 cloves, a pinch of camphor powder with required amount of rose water to form a smooth paste. Apply on pimples and wash after 15 minutes. Along with fuller’s earth clay, neem powder also works as good cleanser and helps to clean the face to get rid of acne. You can make natural scrub by adding almond paste or orange peel paste in multani mitti, which works best for black heads and white heads.

Multani mitti for hair loss and hair growth

Multani mitti not only works for hair loss and hair growth but also works for dry and oily hair, hair scalp and split hair. For dry hair mix together 4 spoon multani mitti, 1/2 cup yogurt, juice extracted from 1/2 lemon, and 2 spoon honey. Apply this hair pack on hair scalp and wash after half hour with shampoo. Curd works for hair fall, lemon for dandruff, and honey for black hair. For natural hair health try another recipe. Mix 5 spoon rice powder with 1 cup multani mitti and 1 egg (white part only). Apply on head scalp and wash after 10 minutes with shampoo. Mixing Indian gooseberry juice in same pack will add extra natural conditioner for hair. If you don’t want to work hard on collecting other material try this simple hair treatment that will make hair healthy and will keep your head cool for sure. Just soak the multani mitti in water for 2 hours and apply this paste on head skin. Massage softly for 5 minutes and wash it.

Multani mitti for sensitive skin fairness

Fuller’s earth clay is very any rashes related to heat. Applying a thin layer of multani mitti paste on whole body can reduce blood temperature by certain degrees and hence can be used in case of fever. Multani mitti is natural treatment so it is completely safe for all types of skins. For oily skin add 5 drops of lemon juice, 1/2 spoon sandalwood powder and 1/2 spoon orange juice in 1/2 spoon of multani mitti. To form smooth paste add few drops of rose water as per requirement. Keep this mixture in refrigerator for half hour. Apply on face and wait for 20 minutes and wash off for oil free look. Fullers earth clay also works for nappy rash and eczema.

Is multani mitti good for eating during pregnancy?

It is quite obvious that pregnant woman feel great crave for multani mitti clay, chalk, ash, mud, bricks or soil. But generally clay is not safe for consumption it could result into clogged or blocked intestine and kidney stones. If you have strong crave for non food items then please consult your doctor.
